Sizes & Lengths of Kurtis ?
Kurtis come in different designs and sizes depending on the occasions and style. For example, a Punjabi kurti, which is worn during religious ceremonies, is quite short and a type of 'waist coat', whereas in another version it runs all the way down to the waist and is often half-sleeved or full-sleeved. On the other hand, the traditional North-Indian kurtis are tight fitting and usually worn as a jacket of sorts. The Kathiawar take on kurtis is much different which is usually full sleeved, hangs upto the waist and resembles a Gujrati Choli.
Due to increasing international influence on the Indian fashion landscape, lots of westernized variations have cropped up like the knee length front opening robes, the ankle length kurti which resembles a gown suited for wedding occasions and the hybrid 3/4th mid calf open slit ones, that are increasing in popularity. Other than these, the ankle length kurtis with mid open slit that come in both sleeveless and half sleeved versions are all the rage these days.
